Mitchell Elementary Families
Plan extra time for getting kids to or from school, this project will impact back of school access with additional traffic concerns at the front of the school. If you walk or cycle to school, the pedestrian overpass over 93 will remain untouched, the crossing area at 2nd and Washington will be protected, and the trails to the north along 93 will remain open. Please use extra caution as there could be impatient drivers who may not use extreme care when navigating the closures.
N. Washington Ave. businesses
The parking lot for Cannonball Creek Brewing Company, Anytime Fitness, and 7-11 will only be accessible from Hwy 93 for the first phase of construction.
The parking lot for Loaf n Jug, Canyon Point KinderCare, Virtuosity Dance Centre, Canyon Point Orthodontics, Starbucks, Cast Iron Tavern, and other businesses will only be accessible from Iowa Drive for the first phase of construction.
Anyone driving to Golden from the north
Use the detour of Hwy 93 and Hwy58 all of the time, don’t use Ford St as your cut through to or from downtown, it won’t save you any time and will create additional traffic congestion.
RTD bus riders
The city and RTD are still finalizing plans for the GS bus route and stop. The bus will still be running, but the stops may move around during the road closures.
Remember that this time next year we will have a beautiful new street, bike lanes and sidewalks.
