THE CITY OF GOLDEN PARKS, RECREATION & MUSEUMS ADVISORY BOARD is having their regular meeting on: TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2017 AT 7:00 P.M. AT THE GOLDEN COMMUNITY CENTER

The regular meetings are planning meetings and generally the public does not attend (unlike their public meetings). However it has come to my attention that this meeting will be attended by the group advocating the single-track trails in and around Golden. This Parks & Rec. Advisory Board is the means by which the single-track group was able to gain a foothold for their proposal and the Parks, Rec. Advisory Board has been very supportive of these trails. Our Representative was previously on the Parks & Rec. Advisory Board prior to being elected to represent Ward 4.

After the resistance from homeowners in VMR with respect to placing the test/pilot single-track location in this neighborhood, the pilot program has been relocated to the south. The new proposed area is between Apex trail head to Shelton Elementary and over to the Eagle Ridge neighborhood and then down to 6th avenue. Additionally, there is a branch near the Apex trail head into the neighborhood east of Heritage road and north of Colfax (Hwy 40). Primarily, it appears that the single-track trail generally runs along existing walking trails and in open areas behind homes in the new pilot proposal.

The agenda and supporting documents for the Parks & Rec. Board meeting are at this web address, below. The single-track agenda item is listed as being item #9. The proposal from the single-track proponents begins on page 28. The proposal document depicts maps listing the locations of the proposed trails as well as showing photographs where similar trails have been implemented in different localities.
