Good afternoon,

This email is to notify your community that at the request of the Colorado Dam Safety Branch, the Hall Dam, located on Jefferson County’s Mt. Galbraith Open Space Park, must be drained immediately due to safety concerns. During a recent inspection by the State, Hall Dam has been found to be inadequate. Jefferson County Open Space staff is currently evaluating available options to remedy this situation. In order to comply with the State, we are required to immediately drain the reservoir and keep it dry until a permanent solution can be implemented.

Additionally, Jefferson County Open Space has no legal right to store or use any water in the reservoir. To avoid potential legal ramifications, this water must be released to downstream users.

We have contacted the homeowners directly adjacent to the property, but would like to spread this information to the larger community. Please let me know what would be the most effective for your community, whether that be something included in a newsletter, flyers posted at various points around the community, or a presentation at an upcoming HOA meeting. We are open to any options that you feel would be most effective. If you would like more information regarding this management action or to discuss the dissemination of this information, please contact me at 303-271-5994.

Regards,
